The Secret to Finding Love

By

Love is not lost. It is inside you.

Here it is. The day made for lovers and while I am personally without one, I am still in love. That’s right! I am in love. How can that be, you ask? Well I am happy to tell you. I choose it. I have been on a quest to love myself and my life the way that it is. I am finally there! I am in love with what I am doing, I am in love with my plans for the future, and most importantly I am in love with the people the Universe has blessed me with to have in my life! How could I not celebrate that? This is a concept I have learned from Dr. Joe Dispenza who teaches the law of attraction. To paraphrase, why deny ourselves something that we want to feel just because it has not arrived yet? We should be love. We should be the kind of person that we want to attract. This concept has set me free to be not only the person I want to be and be with but also enjoy the happiness that comes with it.

This concept is a lot more than self dating and buying your own flowers. It is about making room and opening the door for what is to come. The act of letting go of loneliness and longing only to look forward to what we know in our hearts that is coming. Being the beacon to call for it and let it come, clearing away old cobwebs, unpacking out baggage and cleaning house for the company.

As a person with a disability I have had to fight off the doubt that creeps up my covers at night and haunts me in my empty bed. Questions invade my sleep wondering if someone will love me even though I am disabled. Will anyone want to take this journey with me? I took this as a sure sign that I needed to accept myself and love myself with a disability. After all, you know what they say, how can anyone love you, if you do not love yourself.

Embracing myself and my disability and recognizing that I am still sexy and cuddly and fun has been a process. I honestly believe that taking the time to get to know yourself and recognizing what you have to offer is key. Be the person you want to be and then treat yourself and others accordingly. Build that life that makes you happy and love and it will echo into the void and bring back love in return. I see this with the people in my life. I love my friends and family and I make it a point to offer my support and encouragement and it comes back 10 fold. I have attracted friends and family that are affectionate and loyal and kind.

Could it really be that simple? The answer is a resounding Yes! It’s true I have loved people who are never going to love me back. That is ok. I love them anyway because love never goes to waste. Love is not lost. It is inside you. It never runs short of supply. The more you share it, the more it comes  back and sometimes from unexpected places. We just have to be ready to receive it. So if you find yourself lonely and longing on this day I challenge you to join me and fall in love with yourself and your life. I honestly believe that if you do that and find your happiness, the Universe will bring to you someone to share it with.

I love you.
