My first book signing for “Through the Cellar Door,” was on October 9th and it was a wonderful turn out. It was held at the Wicked Wick, inside the Pendleton Art Center in Middletown, Ohio. They were wonderful hosts and were so supportive. The musician that evening was the multitalented Chuck Evans who graciously passed his mic to me on his break and gave me the opportunity to perform a few poems. I have learned a lot from this process and I have had amazing support from friends and family. I even had a new friend come to meet me from St Louis. It was a very special evening.
The best part about this experience is people are connecting to the book. I have gotten the sweetest messages and people quoting lines of my work like, “Breathe… for I cannot die here,” and “…I promised myself that I would get up again” and “The darkest darkness retreats with just a spark…” They are applying the poems to their own lives and situations. It is so profound and It is such a blessing from the Universe. This conversation of writer and reader and Universe is one I hope to have for the rest of my life. Words cannot describe the gratitude that I have for these experiences.
